Fun quick read of some hilarious stories from his life。

This book was such a fun read。 Mr。 Jordan must be full of fun stories! If he was to write a book a year, I'd buy every one of them。 This book was such a fun read。 Mr。 Jordan must be full of fun stories! If he was to write a book a year, I'd buy every one of them。 。。。more

Fan-freaking-tastic! I could almost hear Leslie’s actual voice on every page。 When reading around other people, I found myself embarrassed a few times trying not to let them see me laughing and not knowing why。 But there are so many dang inspirational, relatable, cute, heartfelt stories。 I will most certainly treasure this book and read it again and again。

I have been a fan of Leslie Jordan since seeing him in Will and Grace。 In his memoir he shares essays of certain chapters of his life。 "How Y'all doing is a fun read。 He shares growing up in the South, his love of singing Hymms。 Being a gay man, the day Carrie Fisher had her mom, Debbie Reynold's call his mother when there was a bad article about him in one of the rag sheets。 His love of horses。 A neat chapter when he was going down to film his scene in the Help with Allison Janney and they resc I have been a fan of Leslie Jordan since seeing him in Will and Grace。 In his memoir he shares essays of certain chapters of his life。 "How Y'all doing is a fun read。 He shares growing up in the South, his love of singing Hymms。 Being a gay man, the day Carrie Fisher had her mom, Debbie Reynold's call his mother when there was a bad article about him in one of the rag sheets。 His love of horses。 A neat chapter when he was going down to film his scene in the Help with Allison Janney and they rescue a puppy abandoned in the road。 Many good chapters。 I wish he had shared more about working on Will and Grace but hey maybe that is another book。 I liked this fun read。 。。。more

Leslie Jordan is such a palette cleanser during lockdown and the ongoing pandemic。 His wit, humor, and storytelling buoyed me through the darkest days of the pandemic。 I was hoping for more stories in this book。 I hope Mr。 Jordan writes more and continues posting on his hysterically funny and touching Instagram account!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was disarmed by this book。 He is thoughtful and articulate。 I was devastated, but not surprised to read about his participation in assistance provided in the AIDS epidemic。 Thinking about what it must have been like when your friends and neighbors are dying。

I so wanted to like this book because I think Leslie Jordan is a hoot。 Unfortunately, I got bored with his ramblings (hard to call them stories)。 Most of the high ratings are from people who listened to the audiobook。 I can see how that would make a difference。 So if you want to give this a try, get the audiobook。

He made me laugh during a year long pandemic, so of course I'm going to read his book。 Short and sweet, just like him, and I could listen to the stories he tells, most of them, all day。 He made me laugh during a year long pandemic, so of course I'm going to read his book。 Short and sweet, just like him, and I could listen to the stories he tells, most of them, all day。 。。。more

Slight but pleasant! A good introduction for folks who just met Leslie Jordan on Instagram recently。 He did tell the one about swinging the cats that I remembered from his one-man show, but most of it was new to me。 Best on audio。

The audiobook version of this was a joy to listen to。 Loved it。

I would have enjoyed is book if I had read it rather than listened to it。 Listening to it was nice because Leslie Jordan was the narrator but you could tell that was something he wasn’t accustomed to doing。 He did tell lovely stories about his life and how he went viral。

I really enjoyed this little book。 Leslie Jordan is adorable and has an endearing way of telling a story。 You can hear his Southern upbringing in every word。 It was a fast, light and easy read。 And can't we all use a little "light and easy" these days? I listened to this on Audible this week and absolutely LOVED it。 Leslie Jordan is such a joy and he tells his stories with such honesty and fun。 I couldn’t wait to get in the car so I could listen to him。 Leslie has been a gem throughout the pandemic and this book was delightful。

I really enjoyed this book, which offered a slightly deeper look into Leslie's psyche than his comedy routines, though still written in his light and witty style。 I love reading books by people in the second half of their lives as they become who they are, reconcile the myriad parts of themselves, and in Leslie's case, retell it with grace and gratitude。 I really enjoyed this book, which offered a slightly deeper look into Leslie's psyche than his comedy routines, though still written in his light and witty style。 I love reading books by people in the second half of their lives as they become who they are, reconcile the myriad parts of themselves, and in Leslie's case, retell it with grace and gratitude。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 If Leslie Jordan reads the audio book - and I assume he does - I bet this would be great audio as they read as if you are sitting down with him over brunch。 These are fun stories from, as the subtitle reads, a life well-lived。 He's funny, poignant。 He doesn't dish and doesn't hide the struggles he had in early life with substances。 (I have a feeling those stories are told in his previous memoir。) If you like his Instagram, all the personality and sass are here。 3。5 stars。 If Leslie Jordan reads the audio book - and I assume he does - I bet this would be great audio as they read as if you are sitting down with him over brunch。 These are fun stories from, as the subtitle reads, a life well-lived。 He's funny, poignant。 He doesn't dish and doesn't hide the struggles he had in early life with substances。 (I have a feeling those stories are told in his previous memoir。) If you like his Instagram, all the personality and sass are here。 。。。more

I listened to this in audiobook and it’s the best way to experience it。 Leslie Jordan narrates his own book and it’s hysterical。 His stories are so much fun and he has an amazing way of storytelling and describing his experiences。 There are also some very lovely and heartfelt scenes in which he talks about his dad。 I highly recommend it。

It was a little 。 。 。 boring, unfortunately。

This series of autobiographical essays is as funny and breezy as the writer。 His comedic voice is incredibly effective as he tells stories about everything from his coming out to a very conservative Southern family to his struggles with addiction。 I knew many of the stories from watching interviews and seeing clips of his shows, but I did not know a lot of the details。 His wit and charm shine though。 It's a quick read full of fun stories mostly about his adventures in Hollywood。 I really enjoyed This series of autobiographical essays is as funny and breezy as the writer。 His comedic voice is incredibly effective as he tells stories about everything from his coming out to a very conservative Southern family to his struggles with addiction。 I knew many of the stories from watching interviews and seeing clips of his shows, but I did not know a lot of the details。 His wit and charm shine though。 It's a quick read full of fun stories mostly about his adventures in Hollywood。 I really enjoyed it。 。。。more

Leslie Jordan is a great storyteller with a colorful life, which is why this book was a slight disappointment。 It feels like the publicist was in a rush to get this book out and monetize Leslie's sudden Instagram-fame。 Leslie Jordan has been a successful but relatively unknown actor for decades。 In spring of 2020 his funny anecdotes from his life and commentary on the pandemic went viral on Instagram。 It feels like the prompt from the publisher was for Leslie do what he does on Instagram but in Leslie Jordan is a great storyteller with a colorful life, which is why this book was a slight disappointment。 It feels like the publicist was in a rush to get this book out and monetize Leslie's sudden Instagram-fame。 Leslie Jordan has been a successful but relatively unknown actor for decades。 In spring of 2020 his funny anecdotes from his life and commentary on the pandemic went viral on Instagram。 It feels like the prompt from the publisher was for Leslie do what he does on Instagram but in book form。 And it doesn't work that well。 I wanted more depth since really, Leslie has so many interesting stories about his personal life as well as ones filled with Hollywood celebrities, that I think this book could have done so much more。Nevertheless, Leslie is a great storyteller and the book works especially well as an audiobook。 It feels like Leslie is just telling stories from his life rather than reading them from a page。 He is such a kind-hearted and funny person, and I really did enjoy this and have nothing bad to say about his writing。 I just feel like the failures of this book happened on the publicist's side, and that's a shame。 But it's a quick read and anyone who enjoys Lesley's content on Instagram will have fun with this too。 。。。more

I love him! After reading this book I feel like Leslie Jordan is my very Best Girlfriend, The Gay Guy! I had been feeling very depressed over the recent death of my mom and was falling into a bit of a dark place。 The more I read the stories of his life the more I realized it would all be OK。 Thank you, Leslie。 I'm looking forward to putting your third book in my tablet with your first two。 I love him! After reading this book I feel like Leslie Jordan is my very Best Girlfriend, The Gay Guy! Leslie Jordan went viral on Instagram last year。 Now, he’s gone and written his memoirs too!"How Y'all Doing?" contains tales of Leslie's life that are as hilarious as you expect -- and full of heart too。 If you know who he is, you'll LOVE this book。 It's 100% Leslie Jordan。 His stories。 In his voice。 I got the ebook and could hear him reading it to me。 I laughed out loud too many times to count。 And loudly!OMG, not a good thing to do at 3am when you don't live alone。I fell in love with Leslie J Leslie Jordan went viral on Instagram last year。 Now, he’s gone and written his memoirs too!"How Y'all Doing?" contains tales of Leslie's life that are as hilarious as you expect -- and full of heart too。 If you know who he is, you'll LOVE this book。 It's 100% Leslie Jordan。 His stories。 In his voice。 I got the ebook and could hear him reading it to me。 I laughed out loud too many times to count。 And loudly!OMG, not a good thing to do at 3am when you don't live alone。I fell in love with Leslie Jordan over twenty years ago when he guest starred on the TV show Ally McBeal。 He played a preacher who asked Ally, an attorney, to represent a shy teenager who'd been ditched by his prom date。 In explaining the details of the case, he quietly confided that the teen was a bit of a necrophiliac。 Confusing necrophilia with agoraphobia, he was horrified when Ally pointed out his mistake。 Absolutely horrified! I laughed until my sides hurt。 But it wasn’t that scene or the script that made it so damn funny。 No。 It was Leslie himself and his unique way of delivering lines。 I swear that man could make the alphabet a riot。If you don't know who he is yet, bop over to his Instagram page (@thelesliejordan)。The man is a hoot! 。。。more

I'm not going to rate this one, since, even though I had to listen to it, I am very much not the target audience。 I had no idea who he was, I don't want much tv (I recognized only a few of the names he dropped), and I comedy often doesn't work so well for me。。。 Kind of three strikes for me, huh? Jordan reads his memoir well, though his accent is close enough to my American grandmother's that there was sometimes some cognitive dissonance there。 :P I'm not going to rate this one, since, even though I had to listen to it, I am very much not the target audience。 I had no idea who he was, I don't want much tv (I recognized only a few of the names he dropped), and I comedy often doesn't work so well for me。。。 Kind of three strikes for me, huh?
